According to the 5G Promotion Group, recently, under the guidance of IMT-2020 (5G) Promotion Group, MediaTek, together with Ericsson, ZTE, Nokia Bell, CITIC Mobile and other industrial partners, successfully completed the URLLC (Ultra-reliable Low-Latency Communication) and 5G LAN technology test.

The test terminal for this technology verification is MediaTek’s M80 test platform, and the URLLC test includes both 5G millimeter wave bands and low and medium-frequency systems. The M80 test terminal and the 5G device bearing URLLC function in the millimeter wave band successfully verified the performance of 99.999% end-to-end delay within 4ms; the M80 test terminal and the 5G device bearing URLLC function in the low and medium frequency bands with short-period DS frame structure verified the performance of 99.999% end-to-end delay under different signal-to-noise ratio environment. In addition, the URLLC technology test also verified the time synchronization performance of 5G R16 high-precision timing, and the test results with several 5G equipment vendors showed that the M80 test platform supporting R16 SIB9 and high-precision time output interface can realize the error of 5G system external timing within hundreds of nanoseconds. The M80 test platform, which supports R16 SIB9 and high-precision time output interface, can achieve the external timing error of the 5G system within hundreds of nanoseconds and meet the high-precision timing requirement of the vertical industry in less than 1 microsecond.

The 5G LAN technology verification adopts the M80 test terminal supporting Ethernet PDU session and completes the 5G LAN function test and service test based on Ethernet PDU together with several network devices supporting 5G LAN function, fully verifying that the terminal supporting 5G LAN can realize the service requirements such as point-to-point communication, multicast, and broadcast communication. Compared with terminals supporting IP PDUs, terminals supporting Ethernet PDUs can be more conveniently integrated with Layer 2 LANs and industrial Ethernet, which can better meet the needs of vertical industry application scenarios for flexible LAN construction.
