Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman expressed his views on Apple’s M3 series of chips in the latest issue of the “Power On” newsletter. He believes that the M3 and M3 Pro chips “Not a huge game changer”, but “the M3 Max is quite a feat”.
Mark Gurman said that the basic M3 chip with an 8-core CPU and 10-core GPU has not changed much compared to the M2, but it is a “good update” compared to the M1. The performance of the 2023 24-inch iMac is about 2 times that of the 2021 model.

As for the M3 Pro, Mark Gurman said that the relevant chip only adds a pair of energy-efficient cores, but the number of GPU cores has not increased. Therefore, the performance of the M3 Pro is not much improved compared to the M2 Pro. In fact, the speed of the M3 Pro is not either It’s much faster than the M2 Pro, only 6%-14% ahead in Geekbench 6’s multi-core benchmark.
