Mark Gurman: Apple iOS 18 is likely to Bring Groundbreaking Feature Updates to iPhone and iPad

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said last week that Apple has suspended the development of new features for iOS 18 to focus on bug fixes.

Despite this week’s pause, the company still has big ambitions for next year’s big iOS update.

In the latest issue of the “Power On” newsletter, Gurman said that Apple internally calls iOS 18 “ambitious and compelling” and aims to bring a series of “significant new features and designs” to iOS 18. ” along with significant improvements in performance and security.

Details about the new features are unclear, but there is no doubt that iOS 18 is more like a major version update than iOS15, iOS 16 and iOS 17. He believes that the last major iPhone update was iOS 14 in 2020, which added support for home screen widgets. The original text as follows:

Apple also faces a more daunting task with its 2024 software, which promises relatively groundbreaking changes to the next iPhone and iPad software after several years of minor updates to iOS.

Internally, Apple management describes the upcoming operating system as "ambitious and compelling" and will include significant new features and design in addition to security and performance improvements.

He also mentioned that Apple is developing a series of new artificial intelligence features that are expected to be used in iOS 18. So what impact will this week-long iOS 18 feature development pause have on next year’s releases?

Mark Gurman said this “probably won’t significantly delay the final release of the software.” He believes that the worst-case scenario just means that Apple has “a little less time to iron out any last-minute glitches” in the final stages of the development cycle.

If nothing else, we will see software updates such as iOS 18 at next year’s WWDC Developer Conference, but there are still almost seven months left, and a lot can happen, and between now and next fall iOS 18 More things can happen during the official release period.
