CNBC reports that Apple is considering producing some of its iPad models in India. The report said Apple has been negotiating with a number of Indian officials to move part of the iPad production line to India, but the implementation process still needs to overcome some obstacles such as professional manufacturing staff and supporting peripheral facilities.
CNBC has reported that Apple is concerned about the lack of highly skilled people and expertise in manufacturing highly complex devices in India.
Apple has been gradually expanding its production lines in India since 2017. After piloting older models like the iPhone SE, Apple then scaled up production and began making the standard iPhone 14 model in India.
Apple supplier Foxconn has also been investing more in India, and sources say Apple previously set a goal of producing 25 percent of its iPhones in India by 2025. Apple suppliers, including Wistron and PEGATRON, are also actively expanding into India, but there is still a long way to go before they can really grow.
