At WWDC held today, the company made a lot of interesting announcements, one of which is the new Apple MacBook Air. This is a new laptop from Apple and features a better processor, the M2! Some impressive specifications and features come with the new MacBook. Offering up to 18 hours of battery life, the MacBook Air promises optimal performance.

There are many features worth bragging about with the new MacBook. The power it offers, according to Apple, is about 1.4 times faster than the M1 MacBooks and up to 15 times that of Intel MacBooks. Apple is fighting hard to sync all its devices together, and with this new MacBook, the company promises a lot. Make calls with your MacBook, unlock your MacBook with your Apple Watch, and so much more. Let’s take a look at the specifications this machine offers:

  • Screen: 13.6-inch (notch) IPS display which is LED-backlit and supports Wide colour (P3) alongside True Tone technology. 
  • Processor: Apple M2 chip. 
  • Storage: 8GB/16GB/24GB unified memory, 256GB/512GB/1TB/2TB storage configurations.
  • Camera: 1080P FaceTime HD camera.
  • Battery: 52.6Wh lithium+polymer battery with 30W/64W fast charge.
  • Operating System: macOS Monterey, upgradable to macOS Ventura.
  • Biometrics: Power button touch ID.
  • Connectivity: Wi-Fi 6 wireless network and Bluetooth 5.0.

These are the basic specifications of the new MacBook, Apple promises top-notch performance on the M2 chip. There are a few add-ons to this new laptop, such as the fact that it is quite sleek, measuring only 1.13cm in height. To prevent the charger from pulling out with every move, the new MacBook uses MagSafe. It also has some helpful features for users with disabilities to help them get around the new MacBook easily.

Currently, this new MacBook is not available but will go on sale in the month of July. It’ll be available in two variants, the 8GB/256GB configuration will retail at 7,978 yuan (~$1,199). The 8GB/512GB configuration will retail at 9,964 yuan (~$1,499). Both available variants can are configurable to suit the taste of the buyer (storage, charging speed, and so on).

The new MacBooks come in a total of four colours, all of which are simple and classic. The available colours are Silver, Starlight, Space Gray, and Midnight. At purchase, a buyer gets the core Apple applications installed with a few additions.

Apple MacBook Pro 13-inch tags along with the new M2 processor

Apple as well upgraded the MacBook Pro 13-inch from last year with the new M2 processor. It also made the stage during the WWDC event with the same specifications as last year’s model, but just a new processor. The battery life on this machine promises 20 hours of working time on a single charge.

Apple claims that this MacBook upgrade is 1.4 times faster than last year’s M1 MacBook Pro. This model comes with a touch bar for typing suggestions and secure logins and online purchases. Apple left out the questionable notch on the M2 MacBook Pro 13-inch machine.

This machine has a 13.3-inch LED IPS display with support for Wide colour and True Tone technology. The battery on this MacBook is a 58.2Wh lithium-polymer battery and will last for 20 hours. It comes with three ports, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a Thunderbolt port, and a USB 4 port. The camera on this machine is a 720p FaceTime HD camera.

Only two colours are available with this machine, Silver, and Space Gray. There are two purchase options as well, 8GB/256GB at 8,643 yuan (~$1,299). The second model is 8GB/512GB and will retail at 9,864 yuan (~$1,499), sale of both options will kick off by next month.
