Leica launches Leica Cine 1 Laser TV with 80 and 100-inch versions

On August 3, Leica Camera announced technical cooperation with Hisense Group to launch its own products in the field of laser TV. Today, Leica presented its first laser TV, Leica Cine 1, at the International Consumer Electronics Fair (IFA) in Berlin.

The Leica Cine 1 laser TV is available in two versions, one of which projects a 100-inch 4K 60Hz picture with 2500 ANSI lumens at 30 centimeters from the display. The other version projects an 80″ size 4K picture at 15 cm from the display and has a brightness of 2100 ANSI lumens.

Both versions of the Leica Cine 1 Laser TV are identical in size and weight, measuring 600 × 378 × 149 mm and 13 kg. Externally, the laser TV is housed in an aluminum case with Leica’s signature “Coke logo” on the front and a motorized dust cover on top that opens automatically when in use.

Leica says that the Leica Cine 1 Laser TV can operate for more than 25,000 hours while maintaining picture quality. For sound, the laser TV has two built-in 20W speakers with Dolby Atmos and Dolby Digital+ support. In addition, the laser TV features a three-color RGB laser engine from Leica and Hisense, which uses a DLP chip from Texas Instruments and has a latency of about 30 milliseconds.

Ross Slavov, head of Leica’s Smart Projection business unit, said that the price, specifications and delivery date for the product are currently uncertain and could change at any time in the future. He did say, however, that the 80-inch Cine 1 Laser TV is expected to cost $6,900 (about RMB 47,610) and the 100-inch Cine 1 Laser TV is expected to cost $7,900 (about $RMB 54,510). At the same time, the laser TV can be optional ambient light suppression (ALR) screen, of which the 100-inch screen is about $ 1800 (about 12420 yuan), the 80-inch screen is about $ 1600 (about 11040 yuan).

Leica’s Leica Cine 1 laser TV has three HDMI interfaces, one USB 2.0 and one USB 3.0 interface. Leica plans to release the Leica Cine 1 laser TV in Europe in the second quarter of 2023 and in China in the third quarter of 2023.
