Leica announces Cine 1, 4K ultra-short throw projector

Leica announced at this year’s IFA a partnership with Hisense to bring a Cine 1 ultra-short-throw projector with its classic red label. The device is available in 80″ and 100″ versions, both with 4K resolution, but with different minimum projection distances: one is about 150mm and the other about 300mm.

Leica has created a “Leica-compliant” aspherical component using Summicron lens technology, a three-color RGB laser engine developed by Leica in collaboration with Hisense, and a DLP chip from Texas Instruments.

According to Leica, 80″ and 100″ are the best viewing sizes for the Cine 1 models. It also offers a correspondingly sized light-resistant curtain, which can be used in combination to achieve a brightness of 2100 and 2500 lumens respectively.

The Cine 1 comes with 40W Dolby Atmos sound, runs on Hisense’s VIDAA OS and allows users to connect different input sources via 3 HDMI, one USB 2.0 and one USB 3.0 ports.

The Cine 1 will be priced at $6,900 for the 80″ and $7,900 for the 100″ version, and will be available first in Europe in the second quarter of 2023, followed by China and the US.
