RIVIAN’s cheaper SUV model – RIVIAN R2 will be officially unveiled on March 7, and more preview images of the new car will be released. The car uses a pure electric four-wheel drive system and has a cruising range of more than 483km. RIVIAN R2 may be launched in the United States in 2026, and the price is expected to be between 45,000 and 50,000 US dollars, which is approximately RMB 320,000 to 360,000 RMB.
The latest trailer shows the rear of the RIVIAN R2. It can be seen that its design is exactly the same as the previously released R1S. The car is expected to use through-type taillights and have similar rear windows.
Spy photos of the car have been exposed before. Although the pictures are not very clear, it can be seen that this car is like a small R1S. It adopts a family-style front face shape, and a through-type light strip connects two oval-shaped Light set. Coming to the side, the car has straight lines, and the roof and some pillars are painted in black. However, due to the lower positioning, the chrome decoration on the R1S was cancelled.
This car uses a simpler electrical architecture than the R1S, and the cost can be further reduced. It is reported that it will be equipped with dual motors and the cruising range is expected to reach 300 miles (483 kilometers). Officials hope that this car can bring “Model 3”-style success to Rivian and bring higher sales at a more affordable price.
