Seagate LaCie Releases Mobile Drive/Secure Series with Hardware Encryption

0

Storage device manufacturer Seagate announced the launch of the newly designed LaCie Mobile Drive and LaCie Mobile Drive Secure hard drives, which feature encryption and are made of sustainable materials. Following the recent launch of external USB drives for desktops, Seagate has introduced a new pair of LaCie Mobile Drive products. Both are available in 1/2/5TB capacities, with the Secure version featuring hardware encryption and software lock/unlock capabilities.

LaCie storage designer Neil Poulton said in a statement, “The LaCie Mobile Drive is a simple yet standout product with classic LaCie styling, high-quality materials, clean lines and solid construction”. Beautifully detailed, the enclosure is made of sustainable PCR materials and is forward-thinking, and after nearly 30 years of continuous collaboration with LaCie, the Mobile Drive reminds us of the thrill of introducing a new design that is sometimes just right!”

The drive offers a rugged enclosure made with aluminum as well as post-consumer recycled aluminum and plastic, and its packaging is also made from recycled cardboard.

Both the LaCie Mobile Drive and LaCie Mobile Drive Secure support 130MB/s file transfers via the USB 3.2 Gen 1 USB-C interface, and they are compatible with both USB-C and USB 3.0 computers and tablets.

Both products will be available for sale in late September 2022, starting at $74.99 for the LaCie Mobile Drive 1TB and $164.99 for the 5TB. The LaCie Mobile Drive Secure starts at $99.99 for the 2TB and $164.99 for the 5TB.

LaCie Mobile Drive Secure is currently listed on the official website as an exclusive product available on Apple’s online store.
