Kingston launches IronKey Keyboard flash drive with PIN access

Kingston launched a new IronKey KEYPAD 200C hardware encryption keyboard flash drive, which is a USB Type-C interface flash drive with a hardware encryption function.

According to reports, KP200C provides FIPS 140-3 Level 3 (coming soon) certified security, has an alphanumeric keypad independent of the operating system, and is convenient for users to use a PIN for access.

It adopts XTS-AES 256-bit hardware encryption technology, and has brute-force password attack protection and BadUSB protection, and is equipped with digitally signed firmware to provide a higher level of protection for data.

KP200C supports multi-PIN mode (administrator/user), the administrator or user can set an easy-to-remember alphanumeric PIN through the keypad with an independent password. Administrators can also use the original user PIN to restore user access to the flash drive if the user forgets the PIN.

Kingston IronKey Keypad 200C offers 8GB to 256GB capacity, enjoys a 3-year limited warranty and free technical support service, and the official price has not yet been announced.

The main parameters of Kingston IronKey Keypad 200C are as follows:

  • Digitally signed firmware, capable of XTS-AES 256-bit encryption, brute-force attack and BadUSB attack protection.
  • The circuit board is coated with special epoxy resin, and the internal parts cannot be removed and taken out without damage.
  • Powered by a rechargeable battery, the drive can be unlocked via the included keypad and plugged into any system that supports high-capacity USB Type-C storage devices without using any software.
  • Multiple PIN Option: The user can choose to set up “User” or “Administrator/User” mode. If the user password is forgotten, or if the flash drive is locked after 10 consecutive user login failures, the user PIN can be restored by the administrator to restore access to the data on the flash drive.
  • Global and session read-only (write-protected) modes: Both administrators and users can set a session-based read-only mode to protect the drive from malware on untrusted systems. Administrators can also set a global read-only mode that cannot be removed from the flash drive until after a reset.
