Recently, in an official Kia trailer, the official showed us the name of Kia’s new pickup truck – Tasman. Before the name was officially announced, Kia officials simply called this car a “pickup truck” and its internal codename was “TK”.
According to previous reports, the new car will adopt a non-load-bearing body structure, with an effective load-bearing capacity of nearly 2 tons and a traction force of even 3.5 tons. The overall design language is very similar to the Kia Mohave (domestic Ba Rui). Ba Rui is a medium and large SUV under Kia, equipped with a V6 turbocharged diesel engine. The new car is positioned close to the Ford Ranger and Toyota Hilux pickup trucks.
“Suspected Tasman spy photos”
A report from Australia shows that Tasman will offer 4×2 and 4×4 drive modes for consumers to choose from. In addition, its video also shows switches for 2H, 4H, and 4L modes, which means it will have selectable Two-wheel drive and low-range four-wheel drive. In addition, the test vehicle was equipped with 17-inch wheels. The new car is expected to be equipped with rear leaf springs, a rear axle differential lock and a wading depth of 800 mm (31.4 inches).
It is worth noting that Kia executives have previously stated that two pickup models will be launched before 2027, one of which is the mentioned Tasman, and is expected to be released at some point in 2024.
