Kia’s all-electric EV6 will be launched later this year in India. Bookings for the Kia EV6 will begin on May 26. The price and launch date will be announced in August.

The EV6 is Kia’s first dedicated electric vehicle, based along on the same E-GMP framework as the Hyundai Ioniq 5, and both vehicles, which feature cutting-edge EV technology and an 800V architecture, have swept the market by storm, becoming an instant global success. Kia is struggling to meet requests for the EV6, a position made more complicated by the industry’s ongoing chip shortage.

Kia EV6

The Kia EV6 features an avant-garde design that will be unlike any other on Indian roads. Although it appears to be a huge hatchback in photographs, the Kia EV6 is quite large, akin to mid-size SUVs such as the Kia Sportage. It is 4,695mm long, 1,890mm wide, and 1,550mm high, with a wheelbase of 2,900mm.

Kia EV6: Battery and Interior

The Kia EV6 is already on sale in a number of regions worldwide and is equipped with either a 58kWh or a 77.4kWh battery system in both front-wheel-drive as well as all-wheel-drive configurations. The standard RWD Kia EV6 has a WLTP-certified range of approximately 378 kilometres with a 58kWh battery. The RWD EV6’s 77.4kWh battery allows for a range of up to 528 kilometres on a single battery charge. With 226bhp and 350Nm of torque, it accelerates to 100kmph in 7.3 seconds and tops out at 183kmph. With its two-motor system and 77.4kWh battery, the AWD EV6 produces 321bhp plus 605Nm of torque. It accelerates from zero to one hundred kilometres per hour in under 5.2 seconds.

A 7kW domestic charger will fully charge the EV6 in 7 hours and 20 minutes. The EV6 takes 32 hours and 45 minutes to charge from 10% using a standard domestic three-pin connection. A 50kW CD fast charger charges the EV6 from 10% to 80% in 1 hour and 13 minutes; a 350kW ultra-quick charger charges the EV6 from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes. These values apply to the 77.4kWh model. A 58kWh battery will take lesser time to charge.

Kia EV6 Interior

The Kia EV6’s interior will feature dual-screen 12.3-inch panoramic connectivity displays with an infotainment system as well as a digital dial. Additionally, a redesigned two-spoke steering wheel, driver assistance technologies, and an included Heads-up Display. It will also include a rear-view monitor with dynamic parking guidance. 5 USB ports and a wireless phone charger will be available for convenience. In addition, it will also feature dual-zone automatic climate control with an auto de-fog system.
