Japan’s Kyocera Group to build new electronic parts factory in Nagasaki, start operations in 2026

Kyocera Corporation announced today that it has decided to build a new factory in the South Isahaya Industrial Park in Isahaya City, Nagasaki Prefecture (yes, a city under the Japanese prefecture).

The company plans to acquire about 150,000 square meters of space in the city and start operations in 2026. The number of employees is expected to be approximately 1,000. Regarding the products to be produced, the company said, “We are mainly thinking about the parts business”.

This is the first large-scale company to enter the prefecture since March 2010, when Kanon (Higashi-Koni-Hami-cho) opened here. Minami-Isahaya Industrial Park, developed by the municipal government in the Oguri area, has a total sales area of about 20 hectares in the first and second phases. The company made a request to the city and county to expropriate about 15 hectares of land.

Kyocera said that the company positions semiconductor-related business as a growth driver. Against the background of strong demand for related components, capital investment is expected to reach 200 billion yen in the fiscal year ending March 31, 2023, a record high.

In addition, a new factory in Kagoshima Prefecture of the company will also start production in October next year, thereby greatly increasing the production of semiconductor components.

Kyocera is a multinational technology company originating from Japan. It was founded by Kazuo Inamori in 1959 and is headquartered in Fushimi District, Kyoto City, Japan. It started with precision ceramics and currently focuses on the production of electronic products.
