On August 4, it was reported that Mitsubishi Land and Japan Airlines (JAL) and others will implement a “flying car” manned flight in Tokyo in 2024. This will be the first case of manned flight in an outdoor public space in Japan and will be carried out on the rooftops of Mitsubishi Grounds’ high-rise buildings and parking lots in the suburbs to advance the demonstration experiment.
In FY2022, it is planned to select the location and construction conditions of the landing sites and verify the proposed routes and navigation costs, etc. In FY2023, a helicopter will be used to fly between the landing sites, and in FY2024, a flying car will be used to carry passengers.
In addition, CHODAI, a Japanese company, conducted a sea experiment with a Chinese flying car on July 29.
In order to help local residents in Japan to travel between islands, the company implemented flight experiments with a two-seater model developed by Chinese startup EHang (EHang), with the approval of the Japan Coast Guard and the Aviation Bureau, among other authorities.
Currently, more and more car companies are starting to accelerate the layout of the flying car track, with four car companies announcing information on related areas in less than a week.

On July 27, Volkswagen Group (China) released its first electric vertical take-off and landing manned vehicle (eVTOL) prototype, V.MO, to officially promote the air mobility project.
GAC Group is also recruiting engineers to develop flying cars; while Supernal, a subsidiary of Hyundai Motor, presented the passenger cabin of its new flying car concept, the eVTOLVehicleCabin.
