According to the Nikkei News today reported that real estate company Mitsubishi Land and Japan Airlines (JAL) will implement a “flying car” manned flight in Tokyo in 2024, which will be the first time in Japan to implement a car manned flight in outdoor public space.
According to the report, in order to realize the “flying car” manned flight, Mitsubishi Grounds will set up landing sites on the rooftops of its taller buildings and in suburban parking lots. And the future will be equipped with landing sites for residential and office areas, to explore new ways of working and living.
At present, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government has selected Mitsubishi Land as the project manager for the “flying car” project. In addition to Mitsubishi Jisho, the “flying car” project will include Japan Airlines, which will use its experience in aircraft navigation technology to provide airframe flight services, and Kanematsu, which has worked with Skyports, a British startup that develops and operates landing sites.
Japan Grown Up (CHODAI) borrowed a Chinese flying car for a sea experiment on July 29. In order to help local residents in Japan to transport between islands, the company implemented flight experiments with a two-seater model developed by Chinese startup EHang, with the consent of the Japan Coast Guard and the Aviation Bureau, among others.
