Apple introduced a feature called Live Voicemail in the iOS 17 system, which can transcribe users’ voice messages to help users control unknown incoming call information.
After inquiring about some social platforms such as Reddit community, Twitter, and Facebook, and found that users encountered some problems when enabling the Live Voicemail function.
After the user turns on the Live Voicemail function, it will bypass the standard Voicemail function. Callers may be stuck on hold because of Apple’s replacement of the wording.
This is mainly because Apple’s description of the Live Voicemail function is misleading.
When someone calls in and starts leaving a message, users will see the text transcribed in real-time as the person speaks. If the user wishes to speak to the caller, they can answer the call at any time.
The caller will be prompted with “the person you’re calling may pick up” (the person you’re calling may pick up).
A Reddit user reported:
I just got a voicemail stating the intent of the call, followed by 2 minutes of silence, thinking I would answer the call.
Then they sent me a message saying my phone was broken.
Apple's existing greeting for Live Voicemail will confuse them.
