iPhone 14 Plus sales are dismal, Apple may redefine Specs and prices of iPhone 15 standard models next year

Citing foreign technology media DigiTimes, Apple’s main foundry, PEGATRON, reported dismal revenue in November this year. In addition to the consumer electronics industry entering the traditional off-season, another important reason is the lack of consumer interest in the iPhone 14 Plus model, resulting in a significant drop in sales.

In this paid article, DigiTimes believes that Apple may rethink the model mix in next year’s iPhone 15 models, redistributing the performance differences between the standard and Pro models, redistributing the prices between them, and not ruling out the possibility of making major adjustments to the iPhone 15 Plus.

In the article, it is stated that the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max models are priced higher, but additional features such as Lingering Island make users more willing to go for them. Apple previously expected that the larger iPhone 14 Plus model would be recognized by consumers after the mini model was cut, but after weighing the price difference and performance/functionality differences between the iPhone 14 Plus and iPhone 14 Pro, consumers are more likely to buy the latter.

The iPhone 14 Plus isn’t a bad device: the screen is great, the design is clean, the performance is solid, and that’s about it. The device’s overall sales results reflect that lull. According to Digitimes, PEGATRON, the maker of the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus, saw a monthly decline in revenue, with a 28.3 percent drop in November.

As Digitimes points out, the iPhone 14 Plus went on sale more than a month later than the other models. And during this delay, customers had the opportunity to learn about the iPhone 14 Pro’s unique features.

As consumers realized that the iPhone 14 Plus was not particularly attractive for the money, they abandoned it. 14 and 14 Plus seem to increasingly represent the lost generation. By 2022, they will account for just 36 percent of Apple’s smartphone sales.
