iPhone 14 passes JerryRigEverything’s violent durability test with high marks

On the heels of the new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 and Galaxy Z Fold4 folding screens, JerryRigEverything, a well-known youtube channel for destroying phones, has shared its violent test results on the newly launched Apple iPhone 14 smartphone. As we know, Apple has only made minor improvements to the iPhone 14, which is a derivative SKU of the iPhone 13, so we’re not surprised to see how well the new model performs against scratches, heat and bending.

One significant hardware difference, however, is that the glass back of the iPhone 14 is much easier to remove and significantly less expensive to repair.

iPhone 14 Durability Test – APPLE FINALLY FIXED IT (via)

As always, this durability test starts with a scratch on the screen, and the color version chosen is Midnight Black.

It can be seen that iPhone 14 produces light scratches at 6 on the Mohs scale and deeper scratches at 7.

The aluminum center frame was able to cope with a few sharp knife scratches, but the so-called sapphire lens cover on the rear camera surprisingly started to scratch at 6 levels of hardness.

The next test was the “screen aging” test, where prolonged fire baking unsurprisingly led to irreversible bad spots.

Finally, in the violent bending test, the iPhone 14 did not show any significant bending after this test.

All in all, Zach’s overall opinion of the iPhone 14 is quite high.
