The issue with GPS not working properly on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max for many users in the first iOS 16.1 beta has been fixed in the second beta. Updating to the latest beta will restore location accuracy on the device.
As with the Apple Watch Ultra, both iPhone 14 Pro models feature dual-band GPS support. This means that the iPhone can receive signals from GPS satellites that operate on both the traditional L1 frequency and the higher-powered L5 frequency, which is better at getting through obstacles such as buildings and trees, and the combination of these two signals can improve the positioning accuracy of mapping apps and other apps that rely on location.
Apple said iOS 16.1 will be released later this year. The update will enable real-time activity support in third-party apps, introduce new charging capabilities for clean energy periods in US regions, add support for Matter accessories in the Home app, make Apple Fitness+ available to iPhone users who don’t have an Apple Watch, and more.
