Intel confirmed that its sixth-generation Xeon platform will support up to 6400 MT/s of memory.
According to Benchlife, at the Intel Innovation Conference 2022 in Taipei, the company had a live demonstration of the Xeon Scalable family of processors, code-named Granite Rapids, which is expected to launch in 2024. Next year Intel will launch the Sapphire Rapids (2023) and Emerald Rapids (2023) series first.
During the event, Intel showed off its Sapphire/Emerald Rapids “Eagle Stream” platform running DDR5-5600 memory, which is an upgraded version of what previously supported DDR5-4800/5600 memory.
In the second half of the event, Intel also demonstrated that the next-generation Xeon Scalable platform, Granite Rapids, supports faster memory, up to 6400 MT/s in a 1DPC (1 DIMM per channel) configuration.
Intel Granite Rapids is based on the new Intel 3 process, and reports say the series is designed for a new platform called Birch Stream. Aside from information about CXL 2.0 interface support, no configuration information for the series has yet been leaked.
Intel confirmed that the Sapphire Rapids fourth-generation Xeon Scalable processor will be officially released on January 11, 2023 based on the Intel 7 process.
