Intel no longer uses Pentium and Celeron brands, replaced with Intel processor branding

Intel has officially announced that it will discontinue its iconic Pentium and Celeron brands for its 2023 CPU lineup and rename them “Intel Processors. The new “Intel Processor” branding will take effect starting in 2023 and will affect upcoming mobile CPUs such as the 13th generation Raptor Lake and 14th generation Meteor Lake series. Intel also seems to be more focused on building its flagship brands, including the Core, EVO and vPro series.

Today, Intel introduced a new brand for the basic product segment: Intel Processors, a new name that will replace the Intel Pentium and Intel Celeron brands in the notebook product stack in 2023.

Josh Newman, vice president and interim general manager of mobile client platforms, said in response, “Whether it’s for work or play, the importance of the PC is only becoming more apparent as the rapid pace of technology continues to shape the world. Intel is committed to driving innovation that benefits users and our entry-level processor family is critical to raising the bar for PCs at all price points. The new ‘Intel Processors’ brand will simplify our offerings so users can focus on choosing the right processor for their needs.”

Intel Processors will serve as a brand name for multiple processor families. With this new, streamlined branding structure, Intel will continue to strengthen its focus on its flagship brands, such as Core, Evo, and vPro. In addition, the update streamlines branded offerings across PC segments to facilitate and enhance communication of Intel customers’ value proposition for each product, while simplifying the customer buying experience.

“Intel Processors” will serve as the brand name for multiple processor families, helping to simplify the product buying experience for consumers. The company will continue to offer the same products and benefits within its market segments. The rebranding remains the same for Intel’s current products and Intel’s product roadmap.
