Intel Meteor Lake Core Ultra 5 135H processor appears on Geekbench

At the Intel ON Technology Innovation Summit, Intel announced that the first-generation Core Ultra processor, code-named Meteor Lake, will be available on December 14. The first batch of laptops equipped with Core Ultra mobile processors are expected to be launched at the end of the year, and mass shipments are expected to be around the Spring Festival.

Now an engineering machine equipped with Intel Core Ultra 5 135H processor has appeared in the Geekbench benchmark database, let’s take a look.

This is the second Ultra 5 chip to appear so far, the other being the Core Ultra 5 125H. Core Ultra 135H belongs to the Meteor Lake series and uses a 14-core and 18-thread configuration, including 4 P cores, 8 E cores and 2 LP E cores.

Data shows that this processor can provide 18 MB of L3 cache, with a base frequency of 3.60 GHz and an acceleration frequency of above 4.4 GHz. This machine is equipped with 16 GB LPDDR5 memory and runs Windows 11.

This machine has been tested twice, with Geekbench 5 scoring a maximum of 1144 points in single-core and 9587 points in multi-core. For comparison, the AMD Ryzen 5 7640HS processor Geekbench 5 scores are around 1802 and 7768 points; the Core i5-13500H is around 1718 and 10420 points.

In other words, although the single-core score of this processor is much lower than the R5 7640HS and Core i5-13500H CPU, the multi-core score is actually ahead of the R5 7640HS. It is worth mentioning that this processor did not reach the upper frequency limit during testing.

The currently known information about the Meteor Lake series Core Ultra processors:

Intel said that the Intel Core Ultra processor, code-named Meteor Lake, is a turning point in Intel’s client processor roadmap: for the first time, the processor uses the client die design of Foveros packaging technology. In addition to the significant improvements in the performance-to-power ratio of NPU and Intel 4 process nodes, this processor also brings independent graphics-level performance by integrating Intel Sharp graphics.

Thanks to the advanced Foveros 3D packaging technology, Meteor Lake adopts a separated module architecture, dividing the entire processor into functional partitions of computing module, IO module, SoC module, and graphics module, bringing a 40-year revolution in Intel client SoC Sexual architecture changes.

The processor adopts a 3D high-performance hybrid architecture composed of performance cores (Redwood Cove), energy efficiency cores (Crestmont) and low-power energy-efficiency cores. Intel said it has achieved an excellent energy consumption ratio in the history of PC processors and has integrated neural processing for the first time. Network processing units (NPUs) are integrated into PC processors to accelerate the popularization of artificial intelligence. An introduction to 4 unique modules of Meteor Lake:

Compute module (Compute Tile): adopts the latest generation of energy-efficiency core and performance core micro-architecture and enhanced functions. This module uses the new generation Intel 4 process technology and has achieved significant progress in energy consumption ratio.

SoC module (SoC Tile): Innovative low-power island design integrates a neural network processing unit (NPU), bringing energy-efficient AI function performance to the PC, and is compatible with standardized program interfaces such as OpenVINO to facilitate AI development and The application is popular. The new low-power energy efficiency core further optimizes the balance between energy saving and performance. The SoC module also integrates the memory controller, media codec processing and display unit, supporting 8K HDR and AV1 codecs as well as HDMI 2.1 and Display Port 2.1 standards. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are also supported, including Wi-Fi 6E.

Graphics module (GPU Tile): This processor integrates Intel Sharp graphics architecture, which can provide independent graphics card-level performance in the integrated graphics card and supports ray tracing and Intel XeSS. With a jump in graphics capabilities and improved energy efficiency, Meteor Lake delivers outstanding performance per watt.

IO module (IO Tile): Contains industry-leading connectivity, integrating Thunderbolt 4 and PCIe Gen 5.0.

According to previous reports, Intel Core Ultra mobile processors will use a new core display, upgraded from Xe LP to Xe LPG, which will double the performance per watt of the previous generation Iris Xe core display.

According to the whistleblower “Moore’s Law Is Dead”, Intel’s Ultra 1st generation Core mobile processor uses up to 8 Xe cores and uses a new low-power graphics IP. The core display has 33% more graphics cores than the previous generation, and the power consumption and chip area efficiency optimization, supporting the complete DX12 Ultimate API.

In addition, the new generation of core graphics has a higher frequency, and the frequency at the same voltage can directly hit more than 2GHz. It is expected that the performance of the flagship core display model of the Core Ultra mobile processor can reach up to the AMD Radeon 780M core display level.

The 7W processor has the highest specifications of 1 large core + 8 small cores, and the core display is up to 4Xe cores.

The 9W processor has the highest specifications of 2 large cores + 8 small cores, and the core display is up to 4Xe cores.

The 15W processor has the highest specifications of 4 large cores + 8 small cores, and the core display is up to 8Xe cores.

The 28W processor has the highest specifications of 6 large cores + 8 small cores, and the core display is up to 8Xe cores.

The 45W processor has the highest specifications of 6 large cores + 8 small cores, and the core display is up to 8Xe cores.
Intel-Core-Ultra

In the Meteor Lake series of processors, Intel has introduced a low-power computing island for the first time, with built-in dual “Low Power E-cores”, suitable for light loads. The low-power island design is located in the SoC module (SoC Tile) of the new generation processor, with two new low-power energy efficiency cores built-in to further optimize the balance between energy saving and performance.

The part of the Intel SoC module other than the IO Complex is named the low-power island, which includes components such as the media module, display engine, NPU, and IPI in addition to the low-power E core.
