Intel’s latest Viper Canyon mini-host is now listed with an i7-12700H + A770M graphics quasi-system configuration for a list price of RMB 10,999, debuting on October 14 for RMB 9,999.
The old Phantom Canyon NUC with the 11th Gen Core i7-1165G7 + RTX 2060 graphics is now down to RMB 6499 for the quasi-system configuration and is expected to co-exist with Viper Canyon for a while.
The Phantom Canyon NUC will be available in China in early 2021, with a quasi-system debut price of RMB 7,999.
The Phantom Canyon NUC’s skull logo is placed in the center. In terms of ports, the Phantom Canyon can be connected to four 4K displays via HDMI, mDP, and two Thunderbolt 4s, as well as six USB 3.2 Gen2 ports. The network port is a single 2.5G port instead of the previous generation’s dual network ports, and the SD card slot on the front supports UHS-II SD cards.
Two M.2 ports are built into the Phantom Canyon, one for the SATA-compatible M.2 2280 slot and one for the M.2 22110 slot that supports server SSDs. There are two memory slots, supporting up to 64GB DDR4-3200, and the cooling specification of the Phantom Canyon is high, with two large 12V fans, dual heat pipes for the CPU, three heat pipes for the graphics card, and one heat pipe to conduct heat for the graphics memory, and large cooling fins.
Compared to the latest Viper Canyon, the Phantom Canyon is significantly behind the quad-core low-voltage processor and the theoretical performance of the RTX 2060 is lower than that of the A770M, but compatibility with games will be better.
