Intel’s second quarter was not good, due to the decline in PC purchases, revenue fell 22%. Yesterday, TrendForce released the bad news that the Meteor Lake processor will be delayed by one year, that is, the launch in 2024, but now Intel has officially responded and denied the news.
According to The Verge, Intel spokesman Thomas Hannaford said that these rumors are not only untrue, but that Meteor Lake processors will be introduced to the consumer market in 2023.
Meanwhile, Intel CEO Pat Kissinger also said during Intel’s Q2 2022 earnings call that the company will deliver Meteor Lake in 2023, saying that the family of chips has performed well both internally and in customers’ labs, and has been widely sampled by customers.
The Meteor Lake family of processors is understood to be the first Intel 4 (7nm) process products and is said to be the first to use extreme ultraviolet lithography (EUV) in manufacturing. The processor is the first to use a modular design that can be stacked with small chips of different processes.
TrendForce also said that Intel would not even start mass production of a key component of Meteor Lake until the end of 2023, “an event that significantly affected TSMC’s production expansion plans. In response, TSMC responded that it would not evaluate the business of individual customers, but that the company’s production capacity would proceed as planned.
