At the Intel Technology Roadshow in Israel, the company confirmed plans for its Raptor Lake series. Intel’s vice president said at the event that the Intel Raptor Lake series exists only because Meteor Lake won’t be ready on time. The processor is expected to be able to boost its eight “Raptor Cove” P cores to the 6.00 GHz mark, and the i9-13900K is rumored to have a maximum boost frequency of 5.70 GHz.
In addition, Intel also said that Raptor Lake is the first architecture that will break the 8GHz world record. In fact, this has been confirmed by previous results of overclocking to 8GHz, but even this frequency is not enough to break the all-time record. To do this, Raptor Lake has to hit 8.7 GHz, and probably a lot of liquid nitrogen is needed in the process.
At the Tech Tour in Israel, Intel confirmed that “Raptor Lake” brings 15% single-threaded and 41% multi-threaded performance improvements over “Alder Lake.”
The improvement of single-threaded performance comes from the higher IPC of the “Raptor Lake” P core, plus its frequency of up to 5.70GHz; and the improvement of multi-threaded performance is due to the improvement of the IPC of the P core and the increase of the frequency of the P and E cores. combine.
