Intel announced that it recently joined with Broadcom to successfully conduct the industry’s first cross-vendor Wi-Fi 7 demonstration, with wireless transmission speeds exceeding 5 Gbps in the 6 GHz band. the trial used laptops with Intel Core processors, Wi-Fi 7 chipsets, and connected to Broadcom’s Wi-Fi 7 access points.

As a comparison, Wi-Fi 6E 6GHz band speed is only up to 2.5Gbps, Wi-Fi 6E 5GHz band is only able to run to 1Gbps, Wi-Fi 7 is 2 times and 5 times of them respectively.
Meanwhile, the interoperability test between Intel and Broadcom will help develop related products for the official Wi-Fi Alliance certification test platform, and there is hope that the future will bring more than 10Gbps speed for global consumers and enterprises.
