Intel 13 generation Core Specification leaked: i9, i7, i5 six SKUs as expected

Igor’s Lab has just leaked the launch PPT for Intel’s Gen 13 Raptor Lake Core desktop processors, which includes the six SKUs i9-13900K (KF), i7-13700K (KF) and i5-13600K (KF), highlights their main differences compared to Gen 12 Alder Lake, and details the features of the Z790 chipset.

Many of the key specifications of these six Raptor Lake-S CPUs have already been leaked in detail on the web. But this newly revealed PPT also gives us details on the power consumption of the 13th generation Core desktop processors.

For example, while all six CPUs have a base power consumption of 125W, the i9-13900K(KF) and i9-13700K(KF) have a maximum RWD of 253W, while the i5-13600K(KF) has a maximum RWD of 181W.

The increase in power consumption of the higher core count 13th generation Raptor Lake-S CPUs is more dramatic than the 241 / 190 / 150W MTP power consumption of the 12th generation i9, i7, i5.

Of course, these are just preset in the BIOS. As long as the motherboard power supply and other supporting components have enough headroom, you can still adjust the relevant parameters to properly release the relevant limits.

Next, let’s talk about the biggest changes to the Gen 13 Core desktop processors, especially the flagship SKUs that are now available in 8P+16E (24C / 32T) core designs.

The high-performance (P-cores) cores have been upgraded with higher IPC and L2 cache, and the energy-efficient (E-cores) have increased L2 cache.

However, the PCI-Express I/O for the CPU remains unchanged, with PCIe 5.0 x16 for the graphics and PCIe 4.0 x4 lanes for the M.2 SSDs.

In contrast, AMD’s rival Ryzen 7000 series AM5 desktop processors offer both PCIe 5.0 lanes for graphics and directly connected M.2 SSDs.

Finally, the Intel Z790 chipset retains the DMI 4.0 x8 bus (equivalent to PCIe 4.0 x8 bandwidth). The previous generation Z690 offered 12 PCIe 4.0 + 16 PCIe 3.0 downstream lanes, but the Z790 changes to 20 PCIe 4.0 + 8 PCIe 3.0.

In addition, the Z790 offers five 20Gbps USB 3.2×2 (compared to four for the Z690), but the rest of the connectivity options remain almost identical. For those interested, you can wait for the official launch event on September 27, when more CPU SKUs and chipsets like the B760 will be unveiled.
