This highly integrated 2-in-1 controller for USB-PD supports high power wide input and output voltage applications with output voltage support up to 28V.
According to reports, the device integrates an AC-DC power factor correction (PFC) controller and a DC-DC hybrid flyback controller (HFB) (also known as an asymmetrical half-bridge (AHB) flyback) in a single package. This new 2-in-1 IC can synchronize the intermittent operation of PFC and HFB to achieve the lowest standby power consumption performance. This enhanced quasi-resonant multimode PFC integrates auto-enable/disable function and adaptive PFC to maximize average efficiency and light load efficiency. Additionally, the built-in PFC function can be optionally disabled, allowing it to be used with any other type of external PFC controller.
The hybrid flyback stage achieves robust voltage regulation and fast dynamic load response through peak current-controlled operation. To ensure ZVS operation under all conditions, the hybrid flyback stage incorporates a ZVS pulse insertion function, and also includes body diode cross-conduction prevention in discontinuous conduction mode, among others. The digital XDPS2221 also provides easy-to-configure parameters through a graphical user interface to optimize system performance.
