Infineon Announces New PSoC 4100S Max Series: Supporting Industrial Control

Infineon Technologies has launched the new PSoC 4100S Max family. The product with extended flash memory devices and a general-purpose input/output interface (GPIO), supports the fifth-generation CAPSENSE capacitive and inductive touch sensing technology, to meet the needs of the new generation of human-computer interaction (HMI) applications.

The PSoC 4100S Max is available in CAPSENSE technology in 7×7 mm², 10×10 mm², and 14×14 mm² package sizes to support industrial control, automotive HMI, smart home automation, and large home appliances such as robots, inductive sensors, washing machines, refrigerators, air conditioners, smart thermostats, printers, and more.

The Infineon PSoC 4100S Max is equipped with PSoC 4 flash memory devices with a storage capacity of up to 384K, which is the largest flash memory capacity of the PSoC 4 product family. It has up to 84 GPIO interfaces, support for CAN-FD protocol, high-speed long-distance wired communication and an I²S master control interface for fully embedded audio solutions. Advantageous features also include the availability of two fifth-generation CAPSENSE modules for differentiated HCI and touch-sensing solutions. The new generation of Infineon PSoC devices also integrates a cryptographic gas pedal to improve encryption speed and efficiency, providing a more secure interaction for future touch-based user interface applications.

The new devices are compatible with Infineon’s latest ModusToolbox 3.0 development platform to develop experiences based on it for a variety of application scenarios, including consumer IoT, automotive HMI, industrial, smart home, wearable devices and other applications. In addition to PSoC 4, Infineon ModusToolbox 3.0 development platform is also compatible with embedded applications using Infineon products such as PSoC 6, XMC, AIROC Wi-Fi, AIROC Bluetooth and EZ-PD PMG1 microcontrollers.

The PSoC 4100S Max series is compatible with Infineon ModusToolbox 3.0 development platform. Users can download the ModusToolbox 3.0 toolkit from the Infineon Developer Center. The installation tool is available for Windows, Linux and macOS systems.
