Repair site iFixit today shared a video teardown of the iPhone 14 Standard Edition. iFixit CEO Kyle Wiens praised the device’s easier-to-fix interior design, calling it the most significant iPhone redesign since the iPhone X.
As mentioned in some reviews, iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus are the first iPhone models since iPhone 4S to open from the back of the device. iFixit says the display and back glass panel can be secured with just two screws and one or two connectors, making the two components easier to remove and replace.
The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus models are essential “sandwiches” that consist of the display, the middle frame that houses most of the internal components, and the back glass panel. According to internal documents seen by MacRumors, as long as these components are not damaged, Apple Stores and Apple Authorised Service Providers will be able to replace the bezel, if necessary, by fitting new components to the customer’s existing display and back glass.
At its “Far Out” event in September, Apple unveiled the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus, keeping much of the design of the iPhone 13 – including the bangs for the phones the notch in the fringes for the phone’s selfie camera and Face ID sensor. Apple also unveiled iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max with a “Spirit Island” pill screen to show alerts and background activity, a brighter display and AOD display, an A16 bionic chip, new color options and more. iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max are available now. The iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max are now available for purchase and the iPhone 14 Plus will be available on 7 October.
