Hyundai and Kia sales in Europe up nearly 10% in October as EVs and SUVs sell well

Driven by the sales of many of its SUVs and electric vehicles, Hyundai Motor and sister company Kia’s sales in the European market increased significantly year-on-year in October, and sales in the first ten months of this year also increased year-on-year.

Citing data from the European Automobile Manufacturers Association, foreign media reported that Hyundai and Kia sold 89,551 vehicles in Europe in October, up from 81,953 vehicles in the same period last year, a year-on-year increase of 9.3%.

In terms of the share of new passenger cars sold in the European market in October, Hyundai and Kia accounted for 8.6%, second only to Volkswagen, Strantis and Renault. The shares of these three companies were respectively 24.8%, 17.4% and 9.9%.

However, data from the European Automobile Manufacturers Association also shows that Hyundai Motor and Kia, which have increased sales, have not increased their share, and fell 0.4 percentage points year-on-year.

In the first 10 months of this year, Hyundai and Kia sold a total of 940,543 vehicles in the European market, a year-on-year increase of 4%. As in October, their share of new passenger car sales in the European market in the first 10 months also declined year-on-year, from 9.8% to 8.8%.
