The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) disclosed that Hyundai and Kia announced a recall of approximately 147,000 electric vehicles in the United States to repair ICCU charging control unit failures.

Hyundai is recalling some 2022-2024 IONIQ 5, 2023-2024 IONIQ 6, Genesis GV60, Genesis GV70 Electrified and Genesis GV80 Electrified, totaling 98,878 vehicles.

Kia announced a recall of 48,232 EV6 models from the 2022-2024 model years.
The vehicle’s integrated charge control unit (ICCU) on the above models may become damaged and stop charging the 12V battery, resulting in a loss of power and risk of a crash.
It was previously reported that Hyundai and Kia announced a recall of nearly 170,000 electric vehicles in South Korea due to the same fault. This fault will also affect about 600,000 vehicles worldwide. Hyundai Motor has previously stated that it will update the software of the recalled vehicles and if any malfunctions are found, the ICCU will be replaced free of charge.
