At the 2022 Huawei Win-Win Innovation Week held on July 18, Huawei put forward the concept of “moving into the 5.5G era”, according to China News Network.

Wang Tao, managing director of Huawei and director of the ICT Infrastructure Business Management Committee, said that the development of technology should further help people to interact with the virtual world in real time and meet human requirements for experiences such as “the sky is the limit” and “immersive”. 10Gbps network access rate will be gradually popularized.

The 5.5G service boundary goes beyond connectivity, enabling innovative business scenarios such as industry-specific networks, industrial field networks, and new calls.

Huawei Wang Tao and Gao Quanzhong said last year that 5.5G requires continuous innovation in six directions, including spectrum reconfiguration, uplink enhancement, full-field view IOT, pass-sense convergence, L4 self-driving network, and green low-carbon, to achieve more than ten times the capacity improvement, which also includes the ability to reach centimeter-level positioning accuracy and terminal standby time of more than 2 years.

Huawei Director and Strategic Research Institute President Xu Wenwei also pointed out previously that 5.5G is the next step in the wireless communications industry. 5.5G is derived from 5G and needs to be compatible with all 5G devices. 5.5G needs to achieve flexible use of the entire sub-100GHz band on demand.

Zhang Ping, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and president of Zhongguancun Innovation Institute, said that 5.5G is mainly focused on vertical industry expansion, and its network capabilities can better help vertical industries.
