Huawei Mate 50 / Pro series ushered in the debut of HarmonyOS 3.0, Huawei also officially announced 25 Huawei cell phones/tablets / smart screens open HarmonyOS 3 public test tasting upgrade.
I. Description of public beta testing activities
The public beta version is a test version released to the public during the version development stage. Since the public test version is still in the development stage, its operation effect may not be as ideal as the official version, such as some applications (including three-party applications) may have instability or incompatibility, affecting your experience. Therefore, please consider carefully whether to try it in advance. Meanwhile, considering the user experience and compatibility issues, the public test tasting activity may be suspended for a period of time.
In addition, please make sure to back up your important data before you upgrade to the public beta version (if you quit the public beta, you need to revert to the stable version, and this reversion operation will clear all user data).
Please read the following procedure carefully, it will help you to participate in our public beta activity smoothly.
II. Applicable models
Please make sure your current phone/tablet/smart screen system version is on the baseline version. If you are not on the baseline version, please upgrade to this version online before participating in the public test.
To upgrade to HarmonyOS 2 baseline version, please refer to
Mobile Phone / Tablet.
Method 1: “My Huawei App > Home > Upgrade & Taste > HarmonyOS 2 Taste > Upgrade Now”; “Member Center App > Experience Officer > Upgrade & Taste > HarmonyOS 2 Official Taste”.
Method 2: Settings > System and Update > Software Update.
Smart Screen.
Go to Settings > System > Software Update.
III. Precautions
1、 Precaution before upgrading (please read carefully).
(1) Before upgrading the public beta version, please back up your device’s important data and make sure the backup content is complete and valid. Avoid data loss due to data incompatibility or other unexpected situations after upgrading.
(2) Please make sure the current version of your device is on the baseline version before upgrading to the public beta version (see II. Applicable models for details)
(3) Please make sure your phone/tablet has more than 8G of internal storage space, otherwise, there is a risk of upgrade failure. (Check the storage space method: Settings > Storage).
(4) Please make sure your device does not have ROOT.
(5) Please do not power off during the upgrade process of Smart Screen, otherwise, it may lead to upgrade failure / other abnormal problems.
Notes.
(1) If your phone/tablet/smart screen has already been upgraded to HarmonyOS 3, you do not need to sign up for the public beta, as we have already pushed the new version in batches for HarmonyOS 3 users.
(2) After the public beta is over, we will push the official version to users on the public beta in batches. However, it is recommended to back up all important data to PC or cloud before upgrading, and make sure the backup content is complete and valid.
D. Public Test Activity Plan and Registration Portal
Through “My Huawei / Member Center App > Home > Upgrade Tasting”, learn more about the one-click registration to participate in the public test, and follow the instructions on the page to “Go to Software Update” to download the version for upgrade.
- Open “My Huawei” App on your cell phone/tablet, go to “My Huawei App > Home > Upgrade Tasting > (HarmonyOS 3 Tasting) View Now > (Multi-device Tasting) Upgrade Tasting”, and read Read the “Application Notes” to avoid data loss due to data incompatibility or other unexpected situations after the upgrade.
2. Select the device you want to try, check the “I have read and agree to” user agreement and privacy statement, then click “One click to sign up”, a pop-up will appear “Thanks for participating in the HarmonyOS 3 trial! Your registration has been recorded, please go to “Check for updates” or system software update to get the new version.” The registration is successful. Click “Go to Software Update” to check for updates and upgrade!
