We know that Leica branded lenses will not be in use on the Huawei Mate 50 Pro (series). This is due to Leica pulling out of their partnership with Huawei a few months ago. But the Chinese tech giant already has a new imaging system to make up for Leica’s exit.
This imaging system is what the company calls XMAGE, and it became official a few days ago. The Mate 50 series will make use of this new system to bring top-notch photography to Huawei devices. Now there are renderings of this imaging system. Do note that these aren’t official images, but imaginations and personal representations of what might be.
For some reason, HoilNDI chose to use a notch in their renderings. There have been some complications as to what selfie camera cutout Huawei will use in the Mate 50 Pro (series). The company left out in using the notch with the Mate 30 series from 2019. For some reason, available renders have made depictions of the Mate 50 with a notch. Certainly, Huawei will use a waterfall screen display on this coming device, but we aren’t sure about its selfie cutout.

Let us now shift away from the screen of this device to what is on the rear side, the cameras. If the renders are close to being correct, we can expect the company to use its signature ring camera cutout. It is likely to happen since it has been a trend with Huawei Mate devices over the years (starting from the Mate 30).
We can as well see the designer of these renderings did well to place the XMAGE logo on the camera cutout. The number or ability of the rear cameras on this device we aren’t certain. But what we have from leaks is that this device series might use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor. But the processor will bring 4G connections instead of 5G because of the US sanctions on Huawei.
We can be sure that this coming flagship device from Huawei will bring improvements to mobile photography. Will it be able to retake its position as first on DxOMark rankings? How will XMAGE perform against the competition? Answers to these questions will be available only after the launch of this device.
