Huawei begins testing its new autonomous driving technology

Huawei starts testing its new autonomous driving technology, a patient the Chinese tech company filed sheds little light on the test process.

A recent patient from Huawei shows that the company is testing autonomous driving in China. This new technology helps test AI powered self driving without human involvement, hence reducing cases of severe injuries. To achieve this, the patient showcases the testing method, device, and system for an autonomous driving vehicle. The system in use on the patient has a software control module, a motion control module, and multiple motion platforms.

Without human drivers, the patient runs a couple of tests to determine the AI capabilities of the self-driving machine. Information acquired from the first test moves over to the motion control module. The control module receives this information, processes it and determines the test motion and sends the motion platform’s parameter information to each determined motion platform. Finally, the information gathered from the motion platform is sent to the various determined motion platforms. This will help the motion platform perform corresponding operations according to the parameter information it collects from the motion platform. Performing autonomous driving tests using this method can cut off the labour cost in test autonomous driving with the help of humans.

As more electric vehicles emerge, self driving will become a thing among so many people. This driving method makes use of information gathered by an AI. If the intelligence of these vehicles is questionable, then tragic events such as accidents might occur due to a wrong action taken by the AI. We look forward to this Huawei patient becoming a standard for testing autonomous driving on roadworthy vehicles.
