According to Weibo blogger @Digital gossip station, the Honor GMS (Google Service) is “finally done” and will be officially announced “after a while”.
Some netizens commented in the Weibo comment area and asked whether this move means that the Honor mobile phone will not return to HarmonyOS, and got an affirmative answer from the @Digital questioning station. “Well, it is bound to Android”. If true, it will mean that Honor’s domestic mobile phone business will re-support GMS services.
It was previously reported that on October 11, 2021, Honor announced through its official Twitter that it had resumed its cooperation with Google. At that time, the new Honor 50 series overseas models will also be pre-installed with Google Mobile Services (GMS).
Google Mobile Services (GMS) is the main difference between AOSP and Android. When a model runs an Android-compatible system and obtains authorization from Google, it can use GMS (mainly including Google Map, GMAIL, YouTube, Chrome, Google Play, etc.) services are of great significance to the overseas Android ecosystem.
In addition, an Indian digital blogger recently claimed that Honor is expected to launch the Honor 90 smartphone in India in September. HONOR Tech’s official X account recently posted a post announcing that it will bring new news to the Indian market. Then Madhav Sheth, the former CEO of Realme India, reposted this post, confirming that he will join Honor.
In the latest X post, Madhav Sheth announced that “new Honor smartphones are coming soon in India,” confirming Honor’s return to the Indian smartphone market.
It should be noted that Honor’s new products in the Indian market will stay in 2020, and no new mobile phones have been released in the country since then. Although Honor has not officially announced its withdrawal from the Indian market, in fact, it has not expanded vigorously.
