After the body-in-white rolled off the production line on January 8, the first OTS vehicle of the Hongqi E001 project has been trial-produced and rolled off the production line.
According to the previously announced information of the Hongqi brand, Hongqi plans to launch three new electric vehicles from 2023 to 2024, of which the Hongqi E001 is planned to be released in the second half of 2023. This car is the first new energy car developed by the FMEs platform architecture. It can reach 1000 kilometers, supports 30kW wireless charging, and can realize charging and battery replacement at the same time. It can reach a cruising range of 350km after charging for 5 minutes and accelerate from 0-100km/h in 3 seconds.
The Hongqi brand previously disclosed at the new energy vehicle global strategy conference that it plans to launch three pure electric models from 2023 to 2024, including two sedans and one SUV. Among them, the new models code-named E001 (pure electric mid-size sedan) and E202 (pure electric mid-size SUV) are scheduled to be released in the second half of 2023, and the code-named E702 (pure electric mid-size sedan) will be launched in the first half of 2024.
OTS stands for “tooling sample”, which is one of the many processes that a car needs to go through from research and development to final mass production. In the OTS stage, the vehicle mold has been developed, and the vehicles rolled off the production line at this stage are mainly used for testing and verification, which belongs to the stage of engineering debugging and design verification. On the whole, the OTS stage has entered the second half of the vehicle development process, after which it will go through stages such as “PT production verification”, “PP initial production” and “SOP small batch production”.
