Honeywell now announced a new partnership with Nexceris to try to improve the safety of electric vehicles. According to reports, Nexceris has developed a gas detection solution in Tamer lithium-ion batteries, which greatly enhances the safety of such batteries.
The two companies are said to be developing a new system that could prevent “thermal runaway” in electric vehicle batteries, which could lead to fires.
Judging from what they announced, the new system is equipped with some kind of sensor that can detect the gas produced when the temperature of the lithium-ion battery is too high. This detection system can carry out early monitoring and intervention, thereby avoiding user property loss and safety problems.

Honeywell said it was necessary to develop such a solution “to avoid the overheating of lithium-ion batteries that could lead to fires.” With global EV sales doubled in 2021 compared to 2020, and with lithium-ion batteries being used in many models launched over the past few years, it has become imperative to develop safer precautions.
They also point out that companies across the industry are trying to develop fire-resistant electric vehicle batteries, employing various strategies to prevent extreme scenarios.
According to reports, since the company was founded in 2010, Nexceris has been conducting regular testing and analysis of battery systems, working with designers, regulators and experts in the field to improve battery safety.
Nexceris technology is currently being used by NASA in the development of solid oxide batteries for lunar missions.
