After several years of development, Honda’s Autonomous Work Vehicle is now updated to the third generation.
It has a loading area about the size of two pallets and is lower than before, making it easier to load and unload cargo.
At the same time, the third-generation autopilot is also faster than in the past, reaching about 16 km / h, having up to 10 hours of battery life, and can rely on the GPS, radar, LiDAR, camera and other components on the front lever to more accurately avoid obstacles and pass through “challenging” terrain during the driving process.
In addition, managers will be able to control it remotely via the cloud. Honda said, “Past field tests have successfully demonstrated that multiple Honda automated work trucks can deliver building materials and supplies in precise locations along pre-determined routes.”
Honda says the third-generation automated work truck is ready to practically solve the industry’s labour shortage and job site transportation problems and is looking for potential partners at the CONEXPO construction trade show in Las Vegas on March 14.
