Co-founder Sebastiaan de With recently updated the Halide Mark II app to introduce a new “Neural Telephoto” feature for non-Pro iPhone models. The feature is like a virtual telephoto lens that uses machine learning to improve the detail of the image after zooming.

Sebastiaan de With shared a tweet about the new feature, translated as follows: “I’ve been using the new Neural Telephoto feature on the iPhone SE for a while to try out and test it. I like the photos I take with native RAW and virtual 2x Extra range for zoom”.
Neural Telephoto brings new functionality to non-Pro iPhone models that lack a physical telephoto lens. You can think of it as a virtual telephoto lens.
When you use the digital zoom, the picture is often blurred and the diagonal lines look a bit jagged. With Neural Telephoto, we enhance the detail of zoomed photos by applying the same machine learning system that powers our acclaimed Macro mode, giving you a brand new virtual 2x lens for free!
Shooting samples are as follows.
