The European Parliament’s website was hit by a denial-of-service attack by “pro-Kremlin” hackers, resulting in the website being down for several hours, said the director of the European Parliament Institute, according to foreign media.
It is understood that about two hours after the agency reported the outage, the Parliament’s website was up again.
European Parliament President Roberta Metsola tweeted shortly after the site went down that “the European Parliament is under a sophisticated cyber attack. A pro-Kremlin group (pro-Kremlin group) has claimed responsibility. Our IT experts are fighting back to protect our systems.”
