Great Wall Motors and EP Manufacturing Berhad (EPMB), a large listed manufacturing group company in Malaysia, officially completed the signing of CKD assembly cooperation. This year, Great Wall Motors will officially start assembly and production of Great Wall Motors. This move marks Great Wall Motors’ expansion in ASEAN. The region’s first CKD (completely knocked down) project was officially launched.
According to the strategic cooperation agreement between the two parties, EPMB will locally assemble and produce Great Wall Motors’ electric vehicles, as well as its SUVs and other models.
It is noted that Great Wall Motors will be assembled at EPMB’s new CKD production plant at HICOM Pegoh Industrial Park in Alor Gajah, Malacca. The plant, operated by EPMB subsidiary Peps-JV, received approval from the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) in July 2023 to manufacture and assemble energy-efficient vehicles (EEVs) as well as passenger and commercial electric vehicles.
EPMB said the new plant will be able to produce 30,000 vehicles per year once the first phase of the facility is up and running.
