During Thursday’s Made by Google event, Google officially unveiled its Pixel 7 series of flagship smartphones. The Pixel 7, which maintains its $599 starting price, seems more attractive than competitors like the $799 Apple iPhone 14 and the $800 Samsung Galaxy S22. While the pricing is the same as last year’s Pixel 6, consumers’ budgets may also be downgraded in the face of pressures such as a sluggish economy and inflation.
In terms of features, the Pixel 7 not only uses a second-generation custom Tensor SoC, but also features an improved zoom, face unlock, and a slightly updated look.
Of course, even with the $200 price difference from the Pixel 7, many consumers will be more than happy to pay for some of the additional features.
For example, the Samsung Galaxy S22 comes with a telephoto lens, while Google’s $899 Pixel 7 Pro model has a similar optical zoom.
In terms of software updates, Samsung has committed to four years, while the Google Pixel 7 has only three.
iPhone 14
As for the iPhone 14, Apple has introduced a number of security features to this new generation, including crash detection (later than the Google Pixel) and satellite SOS emergency messaging.
Finally, the 2017 iPhone 8 and iPhone X models also received the iOS 16 update this year.
