Google Wallet is back with some new tricks on its sleeve

Google wallet is back for Android 13 and it must not be confused with the Google Wallet from the past. Yesterday at the 2022 Google I/O the new Google Wallet was announced, among other products and it is going to have some new features.

The Google Wallet mostly resembles the Apple Wallet. It allows users to carry their credit or debit cards. So, if the users ever forget the physical cards, they need not worry. They can just take out their Android smartphone and tap to pay the retailer if they accept Google Pay.

According to the event, Google Wallet is more than just a payment card. The app can carry, a student ID, boarding pass for flights, virtual car keys, and even a park pass for any theme park; including Disney World, Universal Studios, and Six Flags.

This time Google is also considering the privacy of information for the users. If the card in the Google Wallet contains any sensitive information regarding the users, for example; the vaccine card or health information card; the information won’t be shared with any 3rd party companies. Not even Google will have access to it.

Lastly, Google is also working with the US government and governments around the world for the implementation of digital IDs into the Google Wallet. This includes driver’s licenses. Google has also added NFC and QR code features. This will enable the users to share their information without handing their phones to other persons. Google is the 2nd company to use digital IDs for expansion. The first company was Apple, which introduced the same back in March.

Google will soon start rolling out the Google Wallet to Android and WearOS devices worldwide.
