Google CEO Sundar Pichai said Thursday that Google will launch a large artificial intelligence (AI)-based language model like LaMDA “in the coming weeks or months.
For now, it looks like Google intends to share more about its work on AI next week.
Google has decided to host an event on February 8 on how to “harness the power of AI to reimagine the way people search, explore and interact with information to find what you need more naturally and intuitively than ever before.”
That said, the timing of the launch is interesting, as Sundar Pichai has just announced that the company will soon launch ChatGPT rivals that will allow people to “interact directly” with “the latest, most powerful language models as search partners.
Microsoft is planning to integrate ChatGPT into Bing and other software, which could allow its search engine to deliver a smarter performance.
Of course, Google this speech is also likely to only explain some about the tools we are already familiar with, such as Google Lens, translation, shopping, maps, etc. I hope it will not disappoint you.
