We’re only three days away from the release of the Pixel 7 series and the Pixel Watch, but that’s not stopping leakers from leaking. Shortly after the full Pixel, 7 spec sheet appeared online, the official Google smartwatch Pixel Watch marketing materials were also revealed online.
First up, reliable leaker, SnoopyTech showed off a promotional video for the upcoming Pixel Watch, which shows off that the watch will feature heart rate tracking, Active Zone, Google Maps support, the option to make card payments via Google Wallet, as well as the option to take calls and use Google Assistant to control the smart home watch.
Most interestingly, it’s important to have a Google account, and you may also need a Fitbit account for certain features. The ad also mentions support for “Fitbit Health”, which may be Google’s term for this integration. On the other hand, we’ve got some marketing material from Slashleaks. The leaks show that the watch face shows tracking capabilities such as heart rate measurement, electrocardiogram, quick pairing, and more. The leaker also talks about the Pixel Watch will have 5ATM (50m) water resistance, a surface covered with Corning Gorilla Glass, an emergency call mode, and a free Fitbit Premium membership for six months.
It is very clear that Google is trying to create an ecosystem, just like Apple and Samsung did before it. However, Samsung and Apple have been largely successful, and Google will have to offer some incentives to get the attention of the average consumer.
