Google will launch the second-generation Pixel Watch smartwatch at the Pixel 8 series conference on October 4. Google has only revealed the design of Pixel Watch 2, but there is more to the smartwatch. The information has been exposed.
According to information shared by Kamila Wojciechowska with 91mobiles, the Pixel Watch 2 will have more features than its predecessor. The leaked material includes an official document detailing the features of the Pixel Watch 2, a comparison document with the Pixel Watch, and a promotional video showcasing the Pixel Watch 2’s full design and features.
New heart rate sensor: Pixel Watch 2 will feature Fitbit’s multi-path heart rate sensor, which provides more accurate and stable heart rate measurements during intense exercise.
Health features: The Pixel Watch 2 will also use Fitbit's stress management system, which will use body response tracking to detect user stress. Users will be prompted to record their current mood and given suggestions for intervention, such as guided breathing exercises or walking. Google will use body response tracking input from cEDA (continuous electrodermal activity - microscopic sweat beads) heart rate variability, heart rate and skin temperature to help detect stress.
Fitness features: Pixel Watch 2 can recognize seven common sports, including running and outdoor cycling, and will also send automatic workout start and stop reminders for these exercises. Another fitness feature is pace training, which controls the user's pace.
Security features: Google has upgraded security features on the Pixel Watch 2. "Safety Check" lets users set a timer for certain situations. After the timer expires, the watch will prompt the user to confirm if they are okay or if they want to start sharing their location or contact emergency services. If there is no response, the watch will trigger "Emergency Share" to share the real-time location and situation with emergency contacts. Emergency sharing can also be used individually with contacts so they know your real-time location, and the sharing of "medical information" with emergency services can also be enabled.
Battery life: Pixel Watch 2 is said to offer 24 hours of battery life with the always-on display on, and can charge a day’s worth of power in 75 minutes. Battery life remains the same compared to the Pixel Watch.Most Pixel Watch features will be available on Pixel Watch 2, including health and fitness management with Fitbit, fall detection, emergency SOS, heart rate zone training and six months of free Fitbit Premium.
It is noticed that Pixel Watch 2 uses a redesigned back to accommodate three new sensors. Google also used 100% aluminum material for Pixel Watch 2. There will be four color combinations, namely polished silver/bay, Matte Black/Obsidian, Champagne Gold/Hazelnut and Polished Silver/Porcelain. Google is also adding new Metal Slim and Active Sport bands for the Pixel Watch 2.
Overall, the Pixel Watch 2 looks a lot like the first generation, with a round, edge-to-edge display and a rotating crown on the side.
