iGoogle’s Pixel 6 series of phones were notorious for signal problems. Google has made great improvements on the Pixel 7 series of phones, but it is reported that this phone also has weak signal problems. The latest Pixel 8 series phones appear to be affected by a similar issue, as well as a more serious problem that causes the phone’s battery to drain quickly when using a mobile network instead of Wi-Fi.
On Reddit and the XDA forums, many users are reporting poor battery life on the standard Pixel 8 phones. Affected users believe that the Exynos 5300 modem on the Tensor G3 chip is the culprit, as most of them are experiencing unusual battery drain when using mobile data. Some people claim that the phone needs a charge after about five hours of use when using a mobile network, while it lasts about eight hours on Wi-Fi.
Some users are also experiencing poor signal and spotty mobile data connections on both Pixel 8 phones, with some claiming signal issues on the new Pixel phones are just as bad as on the Pixel 6 series.
It is unclear whether these problems can be solved through software updates. Google has not yet responded to this.
