This is the first time in two years Google used the I/O conference to announce the Pixel series. The last smartphone that came from that event was the Google Pixel 3a. So, it was certainly a surprise when Google used the I/O conference to announce the Google pixel 6a on May 11th, 2022.

The Pixel 6a is sporting a 6.1” display with a 60Hz refresh rate and a 20:9 aspect ratio. The screen size is smaller than the Pixel 6 and it is only covered with Gorilla Glass 3. These type of compromises has helped Google to lower the price of the Pixel 6a.
